They are bright green in colour and have smooth, shiny bodies. Green–head ants are often found in gardens and parks, where they prey on small insects and spiders.
• Fire ants: Fire ants are a type of introduced ant that is not native to Australia. They are small, growing up to 2.5 mm in size. They are red or black in colour and have smooth, shiny bodies. Fire ants are aggressive and will sting humans if they feel threatened. They are often found in urban areas, gardens and parks.
• Bull ants: Bull ants are one of the largest types of ants found in Australia, growing up to 40 mm in size. They are red or black in colour and have smooth, shiny bodies.
